Up until July 18, Peru has exported 81,000 tons of mandarin in the 2021 campaign, i.e. 14% more than in the same period of the previous campaign, according to the president of the consulting firm inform@cci\u00f3n Fernando Cilloniz Benavides.<\/p>\n
Exports of early mandarin varieties, where satsumas (Okitzu and Owari) stand out, have already concluded and the country is currently dispatching the mid-season varieties, such as clementines, and the late varieties, among which W. Murcott and Tango stand out.<\/p>\n
According to Cilloniz, the country exported 5,182,639 kilos in April; 13,219,884 kilos in May; 32,770,240 kilos in June, and 30,101,940 kilos in the first 18 days of July.<\/p>\n
The average price of the fruit in the international market ranged between 1.07 and 1.08 dollars per kilogram, a higher value than the one recorded in the last two seasons (2019 and 2020).<\/p>\n
The main markets for the Peruvian mandarins are the United States, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Canada, Japan, Russia, and China, among others.<\/p>\n
“2020 was a record year for Peruvian fresh mandarin exports and this year the country will break that record,” Cilloniz projected.<\/p>\n
